2004-2005 End of Regular Season Coaches Poll Release
Baton Rouge, LA — The National Tenpin Coaches Association conducted the End of Regular season poll during its latest Executive Board Meeting in March. The NTCA is the official coaches’ organization for NCAA Women’s Bowling in the United States.
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln, the defending national champions, maintained the #1 ranking in this second poll. The Huskers are 65-8 this season. The new #2 team, raising three places, is New Jersey City University, from Jersey City, NJ. The Gothic Knights were 2004 national championships semi-finalists and have a current record of 70-25. Farleigh Dickinson University, from Teaneck, NJ, at 80-13 is the #3 ranked team. Holding the 4 th position is the 2004 NCAA Championship runners-up, Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg, MO, at 85-19. Sacred Heart University, in Fairfield, CT, is the #5 team with a record of 68-22.
The remaining schools in the top ten with 2004-2005 records are: 6) Bethune Cookman College, Daytona Beach, FL 50-9; 7) University of Maryland Eastern Shores, Princess Anne MD, 80-18; 8) Southern University, Baton Rouge, LA, 86-53; 9) Arkansas State University, Jonesboro, AR, 49-47-2; 10) Morgan State University, Baltimore, MD, 52-42.
The 2004-2005 season is the second championship season for NCAA Women’s Bowling. All institutions, regardless of division, compete for the NCAA National Championship title. The 2005 NCAA women’s bowling national championships will be conducted April 14-17, 2005 in Orlando, FL.
